Description

Dong Fang Hong Dan Cong – Phoenix Dan Cong Oolong

Flavor Profile: Gardenia flower fragrance, sweet and full-bodied

Dong Fang Hong Dan Cong, also known as Song Zhong, is one of the most prized Phoenix Dan Cong oolongs, originating from Li Zai Ping Village in Wu Zong Mountain, Fenghuang (Phoenix Town), Guangdong, China. First cultivated decades ago, this rare variety nearly vanished in 1987 when most of the original trees were cut down. In 2016, careful propagation revived the tea, preserving its legacy for future generations.

This tea is renowned for its natural gardenia fragrance and a unique quality called “Lao Cong Yun” (old tree rhyme), which reflects the depth and complexity imparted by mature tea trees. The liquor is sweet, full-bodied, and long-lasting, with a potent sweet aftertaste that lingers gracefully over multiple infusions.

Ideal for tea connoisseurs who appreciate floral-forward, traditional Chinese oolongs with historical and cultural significance.
